What Is the HKC Smart Video Doorbell?
The HKC Video Doorbell (model CAM-DBKT) is a security-grade smart doorbell designed to work as part of a full home security system, not as a standalone gadget bolted on as an afterthought.
It integrates directly with our HKC alarm systems and the SecureComm app. That means if you already have a Midland Alarm system, your doorbell, your alarm and your remote monitoring all run through the same app. One login. One platform. No faff.
A plug-in chime is included as standard.
Should I Choose a Wired or Wireless Video Doorbell?
Both options are available, and we'll advise the right one for your property when we get you booked in. In both cases, professional installation is included in the price.
WIRED INSTALLATION
If you already have a wired doorbell or a wired video doorbell in place, we'll connect the HKC doorbell directly to your existing cabling. This keeps things tidy, avoids any new wiring routes through the property and means you never need to think about charging a battery.
WIRELESS INSTALLATION
If there's no existing doorbell wiring near your front door, the wireless version is the better option. The HKC doorbell runs on a 6500mAh rechargeable battery charged via USB-C, and performs just as well as the wired version. Battery life will depend on usage and the number of motion events captured, so we'll talk through what to expect before we fit it.
See Your Front Door Clearly, Day or Night
The HKC doorbell records in full 1080p HD with a 154° field of view, wide enough to cover everything from your delivery driver to the edges of your driveway. Built-in night vision gives you a clear picture up to 6 metres in the dark, and digital zoom (x4 or x8) lets you look more closely when you need to.
Two-Way Audio, From Anywhere
The built-in microphone and 2W speaker support full two-way audio with echo cancellation, so conversations are clear whether you're in the kitchen or on the other side of the world. If someone rings the bell while you're out, you can answer from your phone as if you were standing at the door.
Smart AI That Knows What It's Looking At
Not every notification needs your attention. The HKC doorbell uses cloud-based AI to tell the difference between a person, a vehicle, a pet and a package, so you're only alerted when it matters. Detection zones are configurable, meaning you can focus on exactly the areas you care about.
30-Day Recorded History
Video is stored securely in the cloud and you have access to 30 days of recorded footage through your SecureComm app. No local storage device to set up, no SD cards to fiddle with.
Built for British Weather
Rated IP65, the HKC doorbell is designed for outdoor use year-round. It's also tamper-resistant, a useful feature if antisocial behaviour has been a concern in your area.
Does the HKC Video Doorbell Integrate with My Existing Alarm System?
If you already have a Midland Alarm East HKC system and use the SecureComm app, the doorbell slots straight in. There's no separate app to download, no second account to manage and no extra login to remember. Your alarm, your doorbell and your remote monitoring all sit in one place.
If you have an HKC alarm but haven't yet set up the SecureComm app, we can walk you through that when we come out to fit the doorbell.
If you're on a different or older system, give us a call. An upgrade to an HKC system can usually be quoted and fitted in a single visit, and you can add the doorbell at the same time.

A complete, professionally managed setup with HKC alarm integration
A standalone DIY addition, ideally for Ring alarm owners
If you already have a Midland Alarm HKC system, Ring won't integrate with it. The HKC doorbell connects directly to your existing setup through SecureComm, so your alarm and your doorbell work together through one app with one login.
Why Have Your Video Doorbell Professionally Installed?
There's nothing technically stopping you from fitting a Ring doorbell yourself. But there are a few reasons a professional installation makes a real difference with the HKC.
1.
Placement matters. The 154° field of view on the HKC doorbell is excellent, but if the angle is slightly off, you'll miss the edges of your driveway or catch too much sky. Our engineers position it correctly from day one.
2.
Wi-Fi signal at the front of a property is often weaker than people expect. We'll check the signal before fitting, and if there's a problem, we'll sort it rather than leave you with a doorbell that drops its connection every few days.
3.
Wiring needs doing right. If you're hardwiring to a bell transformer rather than running on battery, that's a job for a qualified engineer. It's included in the price, so there's no reason to chance it.
4.
And once it's fitted, we're still here. That's the part you don't get with a DIY install. If something's not working six months down the line, you call us, not a forum.
How Much Does Video Doorbell Installation Cost?
The HKC Video Doorbell is £192 including VAT, with free professional installation included. No hidden costs on the day.
Because the doorbell runs through the SecureComm app, an active monitoring plan is required. Here's how the pricing works:

Doorbell only (new customers):
A standalone SecureComm doorbell subscription is £7.95 per month.
Doorbell as part of a Midland Alarm East HKC system:
The doorbell is included within our SecureComm monitoring plans, adding effectively just £5 per month to your existing plan cost:
- Standard Plan: £19.95 per month (alarm and doorbell monitoring)
- Full Service Plan: £29.95 per month (alarm and doorbell monitoring, plus full service cover)
For most customers, the doorbell makes most sense alongside a full security setup. If you're already on a monitoring plan, adding the doorbell represents good value when you consider what a standalone subscription and a DIY install elsewhere would cost.
